My little coffee shop-01
A small spring for local people
I’ve been spending plenty of time since I became a freelancer. Many times, I visit brand chain coffee shops due to their unlimited time to use, even though their coffee isn’t to my taste. So, whenever I want to taste better coffee, I visit a specific cafe.

If you plan to hike Dobong Mountain, there are a few optional trails. My hometown, Banghak-dong, is located near one of its trails. Many mountain hikers visit the ‘Dokkaebi’ Local Open Market to get their supplements before hiking. Some vendors sell Kimbap for them since early morning. Cafe BONS is located near the Dokkaebi Local Open Market, only 1 minute from the entrance.

Cafe BONS has a cramped space with only 5 tables and 10 chairs, and all chairs are fully occupied during peak times. Despite this, they hang many customer cards on the wall, marked with the coffee beans they bought, always handwritten. If their customers don’t remember what they bought from here, don’t worry. The shop owner knows their favorites, so they can secure loyal customers.

But don’t be confused; they don’t just create loyal customers due to their kindness. Their coffee is one of my favorites. The owner roasts their coffee beans themselves regularly according to consumption. It seems they want to maintain a fresh taste and avoid wasting beans. All specialty coffee is served as hand drip at a low cost, under 5,000 won. Alternatively, you can choose other beverages like Korean-style sugar-preserved fruit tea.

Don’t worry if you can’t order in English. The owner may not speak English well, but they are willing to serve you with their best effort.
