Jeju starts to enter spring, with flowers beginning to bloom on schedule. Due to global warming, cherry blossoms, the symbolic heralds of spring, are predicted to bloom on March 21th this year. This is a week earlier than last year, and most people anticipate the cherry blossoms to fully blooming this weekend. The cherry blossom festival was almost scheduled for last weekend based on predictions.

I arrived on this beautiful island yesterday, March 26th, hoping to see full bloom. Unfortunately, we missed the cherry blossoms, but instead, we encountered camellias beginning to fade and fully bloomed canola flowers. Yes, it’s canola season!

Even though the flower forecast was incorrect, unexpected blooms cheer us on during our travels. Everywhere we go, wildflowers await us.

For those awaiting the cherry blossoms, buds are forming, indicating full bloom by this weekend. Some areas near Jeju city are already in full bloom. See you on the Jeju cherry blossom road!
