An Oasis in the Mountains?

Bukhansan National Park is one of Seoul’s most iconic mountain parks. Located in the far north of the city, its vast area stretches across five districts in Seoul and extends into parts of three neighboring cities. Known for its challenging trails, Bukhansan still draws plenty of tourists—especially in spring.

The Evolving Food Scene

Bukhansan has long been famous for its unique food culture. The valleys used to be lined with baeksuk (chicken soup) restaurants, where hikers and families could enjoy a meal while dipping their feet in the cool stream. Despite their high prices, these spots were packed every summer thanks to the one-of-a-kind experience.
But things began to change after the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of those old-fashioned spots were renovated into stylish cafés and modern restaurants—BukHanSan Lounge is one of them.

What Makes This Place Special?

BukHanSan Lounge is tucked away from the busy food alley, giving it a peaceful and unique atmosphere. Every time I descend from Doseon-sa Temple, I find myself stopping here without even thinking.

I usually order something simple, like a cup of tea or an Americano. But what I really come for is the valley view table. Watching the stream from my seat while working on my laptop instantly melts my stress away.

Catering to hikers, the café also sells light snacks and meals. Sometimes the aroma of ramyeon or gimbap tempts me. I’ve only tried the hotdog so far—it was surprisingly good.

Final Thoughts

About one-third of the customers I saw were non-Korean. Just as Bukhansan is loved for its stunning views, this lounge is known for its calm, relaxing vibe. I hope you get to experience it too.
